POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A 28-year-old Lakeland man, already incarcerated on unrelated charges, has been arrested again for stealing a bicycle from outside a Dollar General store. Austin Clay Walker now faces felony petit theft charges after detectives identified him in surveillance footage.
The theft took place on September 2 at a Dollar General on North Combee Road. Detective Evans of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reviewed security video showing the theft and quickly recognized Walker — despite him already being an inmate at the Polk County Jail.
During an interview, Walker admitted to stealing the bicycle but refused to reveal its whereabouts. Because of his prior theft convictions, Walker was charged with felony petit theft.
In addition to this charge, Walker is currently held on a Hillsborough County warrant for failure to appear in court on driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Walker remains in Polk County Jail awaiting further legal proceedings.
