WOLCOTT, Conn. (WTNH) — A Wolcott couple was arrested in connection with a garage burglary on Wolcott Road that took place on August 25, according to police.
Surveillance video helped investigators identify 48-year-old Wayne Lydem as the primary suspect. While officers were still on the scene, they spotted Lydem driving nearby and attempted a traffic stop.
Police say Lydem refused to exit his vehicle and instead accelerated, dragging one officer a short distance. The officer sustained minor injuries.
Shortly after, officers saw the vehicle pull into Lydem’s driveway at 1160 Wolcott Road, but found 47-year-old Annalucy Lachance, Lydem’s girlfriend, behind the wheel. She refused to cooperate with police.
On August 29, police spotted Lydem leaving his residence on foot. After a brief chase, he was taken into custody and charged with:
Third-degree burglary
Possession of burglary tools
Assault on a police officer
Interfering with a police investigation
Reckless driving
Disobeying an officer’s signal
Lydem was also found to have nine outstanding arrest warrants, including one in Wolcott and eight in other municipalities. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Lachance was arrested days later and charged with:
Third-degree burglary
Hindering prosecution
She is being held on a $50,000 bond and was transported to Waterbury Superior Court.
