MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Jeffrey Jones was arrested Sunday morning after being spotted carrying a stolen firearm on the grounds of KIPP Memphis Collegiate Elementary, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Officers responded to an armed party call just before 9:50 a.m. and observed Jones walking near 230 Henry Avenue with a gun in his left hand. He attempted to conceal the weapon by placing it inside his waistband before entering school property.

Police detained Jones at the scene and recovered the weapon—a black Glock 19 9mm—which was reported stolen from a vehicle on July 14, 2024, in Fair Spring Cove.

Jones faces charges of carrying a weapon on school property and theft of property. He was taken to the North Main Police Station for processing.
