FLOYD COUNTY, KY — A Johnson County man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly breaking into the site of a former restaurant in Prestonsburg.
Jeremy Lee Perry, 42, of Wittensville, was arrested on August 22 after Prestonsburg Police responded to a suspicious vehicle call outside the old Jerry’s restaurant building.
When officers arrived, they found Perry near the building. He claimed he had a flat tire and had not entered the premises. However, police later entered the building and discovered signs of forced entry and tools believed to be used in a burglary.
Inside, officers found a drill, grinder, pry bar, and screwdrivers—with the grinder marked “JP.” Police also found numerous power tools inside Perry’s vehicle, many of which were similarly labeled.
The building’s breaker boxes were stripped of wiring, and the main power supply was cut, according to investigators. Additionally, the sprinkler system had been damaged, and pieces of wire coating were discovered nearby.
Despite denying entry, Perry’s vehicle contained three bundles of copper wire and razor blades that police say matched blades found next to stripped wires on the sidewalk.
Perry was charged with:
Third-degree burglary
Possession of burglary tools
Theft by unlawful taking ($1,000–$10,000)
First-degree criminal mischief
He was booked into the Floyd County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
