Police have apprehended a 28-year-old youth, Sahidul Haque, for attempting to rob the Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank’s Bhajanpur Bazar branch in Tetulia upazila, Panchagarh district, on Wednesday night.
According to police and local sources, the bank’s night guard had gone downstairs for dinner when he noticed suspicious lights and noises inside the bank premises. Sensing trouble, he immediately alerted the bank manager and other officials, who then sought help from local residents.
With the support of the community, they entered the bank and caught Sahidul Haque red-handed. Police recovered several robbery tools from his bag and found clear signs of an attempted break-in to the bank’s vault.
Sub-Inspector Asad of Tetulia Police Station confirmed the arrest and said the crime scene was inspected thoroughly. Legal action against Sahidul Haque is currently underway as investigations continue.
