In a shocking case of online fraud turned violent, Faridabad Police’s Sector 30 Crime Branch arrested three men for robbing and abducting two businessmen from Tamil Nadu. The arrests were made on Wednesday, just a day after the victims filed a complaint.
The accused have been identified as Bilal (22) from Nuh, Talim (22) from Faridabad, and Mohammed Kaif (22) from Palwal.
The victims, hailing from Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, were lured by a Facebook ad offering a generator at a suspiciously low price. After contacting the seller, they travelled to Faridabad on August 25, expecting to inspect the product.
They were picked up from Ballabgarh metro station by the accused and later joined by more accomplices. The victims were then taken to the Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway, where they were held at gunpoint, robbed of Rs7,900 in cash, a gold chain, and a ring. Under threat, they were also forced to transfer Rs39,900 online, primarily to accounts linked to Mohammed Kaif.
Held captive for nearly four hours, the victims were eventually abandoned on the expressway. They filed a complaint at Sector 58 Police Station the next day.
A special team led by Inspector Anil arrested the trio swiftly. Investigations have revealed the mastermind as Shakil, Talim’s brother-in-law, who posted the fake generator ad and coordinated the trap. Police believe 5–6 others are involved, and search operations are ongoing in Faridabad, Nuh, and Ferozepur Jhirka.
