AMSTERDAM, N.Y. — A 28-year-old man has been arrested following the theft of an electronic pallet jack from a local business, thanks to surveillance footage that helped track his vehicle across Montgomery County.

On August 4, the Amsterdam Police Department responded to a burglary report from a business within the city. Officers secured the scene and called in detectives to process evidence, learning that an electronic pallet jack had been stolen during the incident.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from various locations throughout Montgomery County and were able to identify a suspect vehicle linked to the burglary. That vehicle ultimately led them to James P. Scholl, of Esperance, NY, who was arrested in connection with the case.

Scholl now faces the following charges:

Burglary in the Third Degree (D Felony)

Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (E Felony)

Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree (E Felony)

He was arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and released, with a scheduled court appearance set for a later date.
