ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA — The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a notorious vehicle theft suspect, recovering several stolen items including cars, a tricycle, and electronic gadgets.
According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Command, 24-year-old Chidi Nwoye was intercepted by police operatives from the Isiowulu Police Division in collaboration with local vigilantes in the early hours of August 22, 2025, along Minaj Road, Obosi, while operating a stolen tricycle.
Following his arrest, Nwoye confessed to using master keys to steal vehicles and tricycles from where they were parked.
Recovered Items Include:
One Hyundai Tucson (Reg. No. PH 725 AAA, without ignition key)
One tricycle (Reg. No. NSH 051 UD, without ignition key)
Eight assorted GSM phones
A black face-cap labeled “AVG Special Force”
A battle axe
Master keys, driver’s license, ATM cards, PVC, vehicle tracking devices, ignition tools
iPhone watch, earbuds, and a brown sling bag containing cash and red canvas shoes
Investigators have expanded their probe to identify and recover additional stolen property from the suspect’s hideout.
The police are urging members of the public who may have recently lost property similar to the recovered items to visit Isiowulu Police Station for identification.
SP Ikenga confirmed that Chidi Nwoye will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
