On May 31, 2025, a burglary at a government employee’s residence in C-Sector, Itanagar, led to the theft of gold jewellery and other valuables. Prompt action by the Itanagar Police resulted in the swift registration of the case under Case No. 90/2025 u/s 305(a) BNS.
The investigation was headed by OC Inspector Khiksi Yangfo and IO SI Samuel Ngupok, supported by Constables Tsering Lhamu, Kipa Tajik, and Sandeep Yadav. Their coordinated efforts led to the arrest of Bamin Ronya from Ziro while he attempted to flee with the stolen goods in Harmutty, Assam.
Police successfully recovered the stolen gold and returned it to the rightful owner. Further inquiries revealed Ronya’s involvement in multiple other cases, including two from Doimukh Police Station (Cases 71/2025 and 72/2025) and another from Ziro Police Station (Case 35/2025), all registered under section 305(a) BNS. Authorities have informed the relevant stations and recovered property linked to the Doimukh cases.
This investigation is notably the first in the district to fully employ the eSakshya digital platform. The technology facilitated seamless documentation of police operations, witness statements, and seizure records, ensuring transparency and integrity throughout the process.
Introduced to enhance investigative efficiency, the eSakshya platform supports a digital-first approach in law enforcement, improving case management accuracy and accessibility for police and judicial bodies alike.
The success of the Itanagar Police in resolving this case highlights their commitment to integrating modern technology for better public safety and justice delivery, setting a benchmark for future digital policing efforts in the region.
