GROVETON, Va. – A 23-year-old Alexandria man is facing multiple felony charges after being caught with a stolen vehicle and a loaded firearm in the Groveton area of Fairfax County.
On August 14 at approximately 10:38 a.m., detectives from the Auto Crimes Enforcement (ACE) Unit were on proactive patrol in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway when they located a vehicle reported stolen.
Officers approached the car and identified the driver as Nathan Temesgen, 23, of Alexandria. He was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, detectives discovered a loaded firearm. Investigators later confirmed that Temesgen is a convicted felon, making it illegal for him to possess a firearm or ammunition.
Temesgen was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with:
Grand Larceny Auto
Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition
Petit Larceny
He is currently being held without bond.
This arrest is part of Operation Press Check, a Fairfax County Police initiative aimed at reducing illegal firearm possession by convicted felons to enhance public safety.
“Our ACE Unit is committed to recovering stolen vehicles and removing illegal firearms from our community,” the department stated.
