CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN — A man was arrested on July 30, 2025, after allegedly attempting to steal nearly $1,200 worth of merchandise from the Walmart located at 168 Obed Plaza.

At 2:02 PM, City Units were dispatched to the store in response to a shoplifting report. Officer Steven McNeal met with Walmart’s Asset Protection Manager, who stated that a male suspect dressed in all black was observed stuffing a black backpack with sporting goods before moving to the stationary aisle.

By 2:36 PM, the suspect—identified as Jesse Dukes—had passed all points of sale with a cart containing items valued at $1,199.74. He was stopped and apprehended, and all stolen merchandise was successfully recovered and returned to the store.

Sergeant Samantha Seay transported Dukes to the Cumberland County Justice Center, where he was officially charged. Officer McNeal issued and served a warrant for Theft of Property.
