MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – A man accused of stealing copper wire from a construction company was arrested early Friday morning following a high-speed police chase.

According to Madison police, an officer attempted to stop a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu on I-55 southbound near the 108-mile marker just before 1:30 a.m. on August 1. The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit that continued onto the Natchez Trace and Port Gibson Road in Hinds County.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the chase, which ended near Highway 18 and Chapel Hill Road when the suspect fled on foot into a wooded area. The driver, later identified as Jadarius White of Lorman, was eventually located at his girlfriend’s home and arrested without incident.

Authorities searched White’s vehicle and discovered several large spools of copper wire commonly used in construction, as well as a firearm and burglary tools. The wire was traced back to MMR Group, a company located at 1900 West Peace Street in Canton.

White has been charged with felony fleeing, possession of burglary tools, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various traffic violations.
