The Avadi Tank Factory police have arrested four migrant workers from West Bengal in connection with two burglary cases reported on July 13 and July 20. The arrests came after an initial suspect provided crucial information leading to the capture of the other three accused.
The first incident occurred on July 13 at the residence of Ranjith (44) in Pothur, where approximately 3 sovereigns of gold were stolen. The second case, reported by Samivel (49) from the same area on July 20, involved the theft of 38 sovereigns of jewelry and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
Police investigations, aided by CCTV footage and fingerprint analysis from the crime scenes, identified Angur Sheik (32), a construction laborer working locally, as the primary suspect. He was arrested on Friday. Acting on his information, officers apprehended another accused, Raju Sekh (34).
Further inquiry revealed the involvement of two other laborers, Helal SK (35) and Jaltan SK (37), who reportedly transported the stolen valuables to West Bengal. A special police team tracked and arrested Helal and Jaltan in West Bengal on Saturday, recovering 318.05 grams of gold, a melted gold bar, and Rs 2,39,000 in cash.
All four men have been produced before courts in West Bengal and Avadi, and were remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday. Police continue to investigate the cases.
