In the Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar, police have arrested a self-proclaimed doctor specializing in HIV and cancer care. The bogus doctor, identified as Ajit Kumar Kandi (47) from Dengabahali village in Dhenkanal district, allegedly deceived patients into paying several thousand rupees without having the necessary medical credentials.
Alongside Kandi, two associates who falsely claimed to be skin specialists were also arrested. The trio operated a unit called Asclepius Wellness Pvt Ltd from the Satya Nagar area, where they sold medications and wellness products under this brand.
During the operation, police seized more than a dozen bottles of tablets, syrups, identity cards, and cash totaling Rs1.17 lakh from the accused. ACP Manas Kumar Deo emphasized the importance of ensuring that patients receive care from qualified medical professionals.
