In a shocking incident, the Hill Line Police arrested a 45-year-old man, Shakil Khalil, for allegedly murdering his friend Anil Kamble (46) during a heated drinking session on Thursday evening in Ulhasnagar.
According to authorities, both Khalil and Kamble were labourers and friends. The fatal altercation occurred at Khalil’s residence, where he had invited Kamble for drinks. A sudden argument erupted, quickly turning violent. In a fit of rage, Khalil allegedly smashed Kamble’s head against a wall and assaulted him with a wooden stick before fleeing the scene.
Police officers arrived soon after and found Kamble critically injured and lying in a pool of blood. He was rushed to Central Hospital, Ulhasnagar, where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We formed a team and launched a manhunt for the accused,” said DCP Sachin Gore of the Ulhasnagar Division. Khalil was apprehended on Friday and produced in court, where he was remanded to police custody for further investigation.
A case of murder under the Indian Penal Code has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
