Delhi Police have apprehended two men from central Delhi connected to multiple burglaries reported in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi. The duo recently robbed a residence in Old Rajendra Nagar, escaping with cash, gold, and diamond jewelry.

On May 27, police received a complaint from an Old Rajendra Nagar resident reporting theft of gold and diamond jewelry, silver articles, and cash from his home. Following registration of an FIR at Rajendra Nagar police station, a special investigation team was formed.

DCP (Central) Nidhin Valsan said, “The team analyzed CCTV footage from several locations. Acting on a tip-off, both suspects were caught near Shivaji Park in West Delhi after a brief chase on July 18.”

The accused were identified as Akbar alias Firoz alias Babu (40) from Ghaziabad, and Ramesh alias Kallu (42) from Maujpur. During interrogation, they confessed to multiple burglaries in the Rajendra Nagar area, including a major theft on June 2 at CR Park in South Delhi, where they stole 1 kg of gold, 1 kg of silver, and Rs 20 lakh in cash.

Police explained their modus operandi: the duo targeted homes in metro cities when families were away. They rang doorbells to confirm no one was present and then marked properties for burglary.

Both Akbar and Ramesh are proclaimed offenders with prior cases including robbery, dacoity, and Arms Act violations. Akbar has been active since 2021 with 20 cases registered, while Ramesh has 13 cases since 2022. Together, they are linked to at least 16 robberies across cities.

Authorities recovered 121 grams of gold valued over Rs 12 lakh from them. The duo revealed they shared stolen goods with a third accomplice, Monu alias Abhishek, who remains at large. Efforts to locate Monu are ongoing, with further investigations underway.
