DODGEVILLE, Wis. — A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday following the theft of a vehicle in Dodgeville, thanks in part to the efforts of a K9 tracking unit, authorities said.

According to the Iowa County Communications Center, officers received a report at 4:13 p.m. of a stolen vehicle from a business on North Johns Street. Responding units from the Dodgeville Police Department and Iowa County Sheriff’s Office located the unoccupied vehicle shortly after near a business on Highway 23.

K9 Sam from the Sheriff’s Office was deployed and successfully tracked the suspect to another business along the same highway.

The suspect, identified as Kenneth D. Westfall, 33, of West Allis, was arrested and charged with Driving or Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owner’s Consent.

Westfall was transported to the Iowa County Jail, where he was booked and remains in custody as of Tuesday.
