A Jharkhand couple, Sonu Sinha (40) and Chandni Devi (30) from Kanke, were arrested on Saturday for stealing a gold pendant from a jewellery shop in Daily Market, Rajgangpur (Sundargarh district) around five days ago.
Police report that on the evening of July 8, Chandni entered the shop with her 11-year-old son and requested to see a gold pendant. As the shopkeeper displayed several items, Chandni discreetly slipped one pendant into her pocket and left. The theft was discovered later that day, and an FIR was filed at the Rajgangpur police station.
Following the complaint, both suspects were arrested in Jharkhand. During interrogation, Chandni confessed that Sonu had been waiting in a car outside the shop while she committed the theft.
Inspector M. R. Pradhan of Rajgangpur police stated, “We are probing to determine if others were involved in aiding the crime.”
