CHRISTIANSTED, U.S. Virgin Islands — Police have arrested 20-year-old Tito J. Franco in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred early Friday morning at multiple businesses in the Christiansted area.
According to the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD), between 2:43 a.m. and 8:01 a.m. on July 11, the 911 Emergency Call Center received several reports of break-ins. Patrol officers responded, and a swift investigation led to Franco’s arrest.
Authorities said Franco was found in possession of stolen property and was taken into custody with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Bureau. He was read his Miranda rights and charged with the following offenses:
Burglary in the Third Degree
Destruction of Property
Petit Larceny
Trespass
Buying, Receiving, or Possessing Stolen Property
Franco was unable to post the $25,000 bail and has been remanded to the James A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending a court hearing in Superior Court.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional suspects may be involved.
