Four men from Tamil Nadu were arrested by Lingaraj Police for looting cash and valuables from a car in Bhubaneswar. The accused — S. Kathiravan, K. Dinesh Kumar, S. Kumar (alias Panni), and K. DilliRajan — were caught following a complaint by Kishoree Kumar Jha of Mohai, Bihar, who currently resides in Old Town under Lingaraj Police jurisdiction.
ASI Amarendra Swain of Lingaraj Police Station reported that Jha, a construction company supervisor, filed a complaint on July 8. He alleged that on July 7 around 12:25 PM, while traveling in the company’s Scorpio vehicle (registration OD 34D 8484) to Lewis Road for purchasing materials, miscreants looted Rs 44,000 in cash along with his SBI ATM card, cheque book, PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving license, and several company documents and bills.
Using CCTV footage from nearby cameras, the police identified and tracked the suspects, arresting all four near Rabi Talkies Chowk. Seized from the accused were Rs 19,200 in cash, the stolen documents, a small catapult, 35 small iron balls, an Apple iPad, and three airbags.
ASI Swain explained that the accused employed a catapult and iron balls to break car windows or open doors during the thefts.
