A joint operation by the Crime Branch, Surveillance Cell (DCP North), and Jankipuram Police led to the arrest of four individuals involved in multiple house thefts. Among those arrested was the gang’s leader, Rahul Gupta.
The breakthrough came after a theft was reported by Durgesh Kumar Mishra of Khargapur Jagir village on June 18. Mishra’s locked house was ransacked, and valuables including cash and jewellery were stolen.
Based on CCTV footage, call detail analysis, and ground-level intelligence, police identified and apprehended four suspects: Rahul Gupta (gang leader), Ramu Rawat, Vimlesh Kumar, and Rajiv Rastogi. They were arrested from different areas in Lucknow.
From the gang’s possession, police recovered over Rs4 lakh in cash, gold and silver jewellery, utensils, and house-breaking tools. An unregistered auto-rickshaw used in the crimes was also seized.
The suspects are being interrogated further to uncover possible connections to other thefts in the region.
