Pune police have arrested Rupsingh Gulbasingh Rawat from Rajasthan for his involvement in the theft of 740 grams of gold, valued atRs18.66 lakh, at a railway station on June 11. The arrest was made on Friday, and after securing a transit remand, Rawat was brought to Pune on Sunday.
The stolen gold was under the custody of a logistics company responsible for transporting it from local jewellery shops to Mumbai for processing and delivery. An employee of the logistics firm, Dharmesh Rebari, was also arrested for executing the robbery along with two other suspects.
According to API Amol Rasal, the accused initially claimed he was robbed at gunpoint by unknown individuals. However, a technical investigation revealed the involvement of logistics employees in the heist. Rawat was arrested following this discovery, while police continue to search for the remaining suspect.
