Two women, Catalina Saldana and Joselinne Amaro, were arrested by the Harlingen Police Department in connection with a stolen 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 found near a border crossing.
The vehicle was reported stolen during the early hours of June 19 from a local hotel. Authorities located the truck near the border, where the women were apprehended.
Saldana faces charges of theft of a motor vehicle, engaging in organized criminal activity, and an additional theft charge. Amaro was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and engaging in organized criminal activity. Their bonds were set at $22,500 and $10,000, respectively.
Police noted that organized crime rings have been targeting newer model Dodge Ram vehicles in the area. To help prevent thefts, authorities recommend using anti-theft devices such as steering wheel locks, which can deter criminals.
