Ludhiana police have arrested two members of a notorious gang involved in a long series of burglaries, thefts, and snatchings. The accused, Viney Kumar from Ram Nagar, Bhamian Kalan, and Gaurav Kumar from Ganesh Nagar, Mundian Kalan, were caught at different locations in separate operations.
Police recovered two motorcycles and eight smartphones from their possession, all of which were either stolen or snatched during their criminal activities.
Commissioner Swapan Sharma confirmed that the arrests were made under the supervision of SHO Balwinder Kaur from Jamalpur police station. Investigations revealed that both accused had prior criminal records, with Gaurav Kumar declared a proclaimed offender.
Further inquiry by Mundian Kalan chowki in charge revealed that the gang was committing thefts primarily to finance their narcotics addiction, highlighting the link between crime and substance abuse in the area.
