Yashodhara Nagar police have arrested 25-year-old Rahul Hatewar in connection with a major housebreaking incident while the homeowners were away attending a wedding. The break-in occurred between the night of May 4 and early morning of May 5 at Shahu Mohalla, Kundanlal Gupta Nagar. The complainant, Kishore Nimje, had left for Pachpaoli, leaving his children next door. The accused took advantage, breaking open the main door and stealing Rs 1,00,000 in cash along with gold ornaments worth Rs 6,02,500 from a cupboard in a bedroom.
Police registered a case under the relevant BNS sections and launched an investigation. Based on intelligence and surveillance, Rahul Hatewar was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed and named his accomplice, 25-year-old Nikesh Shahu. Further investigations linked the duo to two other housebreaking cases in Yashodhara Nagar. Police recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 3,04,500 from Hatewar. The search for Shahu is ongoing.
