Iowa City Man Francois Parker Arrested for Shooting, Burglary

Multiple charges filed after shooting and home break-in

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A 19-year-old man from Iowa City, Francois Pierre Parker, has been charged with numerous crimes after police say he shot a man and broke into a home early Tuesday morning.

Authorities reported the shooting occurred around 11 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Cross Park Avenue. Parker allegedly fled the scene on a stolen bicycle.

Around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, police received reports of a break-in and attempted vehicle theft in the 10 block of Gleason Drive. Officers set up a perimeter and found Parker hiding behind a nearby residence. He was armed with a stolen firearm and ammunition and was linked to the earlier shooting.

Parker now faces multiple charges, including willful injury causing serious injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, trafficking in stolen weapons, second-degree burglary, assault with a dangerous weapon, and possession of marijuana.

The investigation remains open, and authorities are asking anyone with security camera footage from the shooting area to come forward.
