Christian Anderson Charged in Reporter Adam Manzano’s Death

New Orleans man linked to drugging, theft scheme in hotel death

Kenner, LA — Christian Anderson, 33, of New Orleans, has been arrested for his alleged role in a scheme that resulted in the death of journalist Adam Manzano earlier this year, authorities announced.

Manzano, a reporter for KGKC Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, was found dead on February 5 in a Kenner hotel room. The Jefferson Parish Coroner determined he died from a combination of Xanax, alcohol, and positional asphyxia.

Danette Colbert, a woman seen entering Manzano’s room hours before his death, was arrested shortly after the incident. Police later found Manzano’s cellphone and credit card in her home. Colbert was initially charged with theft and fraud-related crimes, but a second-degree murder charge was added after the autopsy report.

Authorities allege that Colbert and her accomplices — including Rickey White and now Anderson — were part of an organized effort to drug victims and steal their belongings. Text messages and other digital evidence revealed a “coordinated pattern” of targeting individuals, police said.

Anderson, police noted, rented a car used by Colbert on the day of the incident and later engaged in efforts to benefit financially from Manzano’s stolen assets. He is accused of offering logistical support and participating in communications both during and after the crime.

He now faces several charges, including principal to simple robbery, purse snatching, access device fraud, illegal transmission of monetary funds, bank fraud, and computer fraud. Anderson is currently being held at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

Earlier this month, Colbert was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a prior fraud conviction. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill, citing her lengthy history of targeting tourists and vulnerable individuals, said, “I wish we could have saved the life of Adam Manzano.”

Colbert also faces second-degree murder charges in Jefferson Parish for her alleged role in Manzano’s death. Her accomplice Rickey White has been charged with similar property crimes.
