NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Two teenagers have been arrested by the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) in connection with the theft of a Dodge Charger, police confirmed Monday.
Hilario Carreon-Vazquez, 19, and Austin Moore, 18, were seen by officers exchanging cash outside Carreon-Vazquez’s home after receiving reports of the stolen vehicle.
According to investigators, Carreon-Vazquez admitted to selling the stolen Charger to Moore for $1,500. Officers recovered a loaded firearm and approximately $3,400 in cash from Carreon-Vazquez’s other vehicle, which he was driving when stopped.
Moore, who fled from a traffic stop in the Charger, was eventually apprehended after officers deployed spike strips to disable the vehicle.
Both suspects are charged with vehicle theft, while Moore also faces an additional charge of evading arrest.
The MNPD continues its crackdown on auto theft and urges the public to report suspicious activity.
