William Kevin Rose Arrested After Gunfire in Hospital

Rose fired shots after stealing deputy’s gun in Berryville

BERRYVILLE, Ark. — A Little Rock man has been arrested after opening fire inside Mercy Hospital in Berryville on Saturday, May 10, according to the Arkansas State Police.

The suspect, William Kevin Rose, had initially been taken to the hospital after being involved in an incident resulting in charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. While receiving medical care, authorities say Rose stole a firearm from a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputy and fired two rounds inside the hospital.

Medical personnel were able to disarm Rose before he fled the hospital and escaped into a nearby wooded area. He was located shortly after by Berryville Police and CCSO deputies and taken into custody without further incident.

In a press release, Arkansas State Police confirmed Rose now faces multiple felony charges, including:

Aggravated assault on a correctional employee

Theft

Resisting arrest

Fleeing

Battery

Making terroristic threats

Breaking or entering

No injuries were reported from the gunfire. The investigation is ongoing.
