Police in Khargone district arrested seven individuals in connection with the theft of 4.5 quintals of aluminium wires from a high-tension (HT) power line under the Mandaleshwar police station limits.
According to Superintendent of Police Dharmraj Meena, the theft came to light after the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited Sub Division Nimrani reported missing wires from the HT line stretching from Maheshwar Hydel Power Station to Pithampur.
Acting swiftly on the information, police arrested:
Shahrukh and Narendra from Karhi police station area
Mayur Shah, Irshad, Praveen Mansare, Jafar, and Shiva from Mandaleshwar police station area
It was revealed that Jafar and Shiva purchased the stolen wires, while others were directly involved in the theft. SP Meena added that Shahrukh, Jafar, and Irshad have previous cases registered against them.
Police successfully recovered the 4.55 quintals of stolen aluminium wires and seized four two-wheelers used in the operation. However, some suspects are still absconding, and the investigation is ongoing.
