MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A 32-year-old member of the hospital staff at Springhill Medical Center has been arrested for making a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of the building early Thursday morning.
According to the Mobile Police Department (MPD), authorities responded to the hospital before 2 a.m. after a call was made from inside, requesting an immediate evacuation. The investigation later revealed that the call had been made by Elizabeth Bass, a hospital staff member.
Bass was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats, according to jail records. MPD officials stated that there was no reason to believe the threat was credible or viable, and no explosive devices were found.
This incident has raised concerns about security at local healthcare facilities and the potential consequences of hoax threats, which can cause unnecessary panic and disrupt critical medical services.
