Lincoln, Neb. — A 20-year-old Lincoln man, Jaquan Sidney, has been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault that left a 17-year-old girl injured in April.
Sidney was arraigned in Lancaster County Court on a single count of robbery. His bond was set at 10% of $50,000. The charges stem from an April 12 incident at 21st and J streets, where police responded to a report of an ongoing assault around 7:13 p.m.
According to police, the teenage victim was involved in a minor vehicle accident with another driver, later identified as 19-year-old Charlissa Lasley. When the girl attempted to exchange information, Lasley reportedly demanded $300 in cash instead.
The girl left the scene, believing the interaction was over, but was followed by Lasley and two others. Upon pulling over again, the girl was assaulted by Lasley and another woman, who also took her car keys. She later received treatment for her injuries at a local emergency room.
Court records state that surveillance footage and other recordings corroborated the victim’s story and showed Sidney filming the incident on his phone. Police allege he instructed the women to steal the victim’s bag during the robbery.
Sidney is due back in court for a hearing on June 4 at 10 a.m.
