In a swift action following a daring robbery in one of Ludhiana’s posh areas, the city police arrested three out of four accused involved in a departmental store robbery in Kitchlu Nagar, just hours after the crime. The incident occurred adjacent to the Kitchlu Nagar police post, drawing sharp criticism from the local community.
The arrested suspects have been identified as:
Jagjit Singh alias Makhan Singh, resident of Chahar village, Ladhowal
Bablu Singh, resident of Rajowal village
Samir, also from Chahar village, Ladhowal
Their fourth accomplice, Golu of Rajowal, is still absconding, police said.
The gang had robbed Rs10,000 and two mobile phones from Vineet Aneja, the owner of Lotus AV International Departmental Store, and his wife Aarti Aneja, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday. One of the accused had entered the store posing as a customer to conduct a recce just minutes before the robbery.
The robbers used a sharp-edged weapon to threaten the couple before fleeing the scene.
During the arrest operation, police recovered three mobile phones, four motorcycles, and the weapon used in the robbery.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Snehdeep Sharma confirmed the arrests and said efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
Despite the quick arrests, the crime has sparked local outrage, as the store is located next to a police post, raising concerns about police vigilance and security in the area.
