BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Two Baton Rouge residents were arrested following a violent altercation at their residence on Jim Taylor Drive. Anna Canales, 47, and William Aguilon, 35, are both facing serious charges, including attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call at the residence on the evening of Saturday, April 5, around 8:30 p.m. Aguilon told officers that he and Canales had gotten into a verbal dispute, which quickly escalated. He claims that while lying down, Canales began punching him in the face multiple times. Aguilon then alleges that Canales placed a firearm on his head, threatened him, and hit herself with it before aiming it back at him and firing. The shot missed Aguilon’s head, and Canales reportedly left the residence afterward.
When Canales was apprehended by the police, her account of the incident differed. She stated that the altercation became physical when Aguilon placed his hands around her neck. According to Canales, Aguilon then grabbed her hair, put the firearm in her mouth, and pointed it at her head. She claims they struggled over the weapon, which discharged during the altercation.
Both Canales and Aguilon were arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery.
