Five Arrested for Stealing Pipes from Narmada Jal Yojana
Mayur Khandelwal, Additional SP, disclosed that the Alwar police had received a tip-off about a group of suspects preparing to commit a heist near Runija. In response, Police Station In-Charge Satyendra Chaudhary and his team swiftly laid a siege and successfully apprehended five individuals involved in the crime.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Nasir Khan, Rafiq Khan, Anish Khan, and Aashiq Mewati from Alwar, Rajasthan, and Zahid Fakir from Ujjain. Four of the accused are known members of the notorious Mewat gang, a criminal group involved in various robberies and loot incidents.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing pipes worth lakhs from the Narmada Jal Yojana, a major water project in the region. They further admitted to previous involvement in multiple loot and robbery cases.
In a major breakthrough, the police recovered several stolen items valued at over Rs 33 lakh. These items included a 315 bore pistol, two cars, country-made liquor, a dagger, a grinder, a tommy gun, and other criminal tools.
To commend the police team’s swift action, SP Pradeep Sharma announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for the officers involved in the successful operation.
