Dante Walton, a 29-year-old man from Waterbury, was arrested Wednesday after stealing a box truck and leading police on a dangerous chase through the city.
The incident began before noon, when officers were notified about a stolen truck at 115 South Main Street. The truck was registered to a contractor working in the area, according to authorities.
After locating the vehicle, officers attempted to pull over the stolen truck, but Walton fled the scene, sparking a high-speed chase through Grand Street. During the pursuit, Walton struck multiple vehicles, including a Connecticut State Police cruiser and a Waterbury police SUV.
The chase ended when Walton fled on foot, but he was later apprehended by officers. Authorities said Walton was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries following his capture.
Walton now faces a series of charges related to the stolen truck, the police chase, and the accidents he caused.
