De’Jay May, Robert Taylor Jr. Charged in Gulfport Shooting

Teen Injured in Drive-By; Suspects Found in Stolen Vehicle

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – A 17-year-old boy was injured and two 18-year-old suspects are facing serious charges after a drive-by shooting in Gulfport on Saturday, March 29.

Gulfport police say the shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of 57th Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene to find the teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, and authorities say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Later that day, police located two suspects — identified as De’Jay May and Robert Taylor Jr. — traveling in a stolen vehicle. The pair fled but were eventually apprehended and taken into custody.

Both suspects were booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.

Charges:
De’Jay May faces:

2 counts of drive-by shooting

1 count of felony fleeing

1 count of motor vehicle theft

Bond: $600,000

Robert Taylor Jr. faces:

2 counts of drive-by shooting

1 count of motor vehicle theft

Bond: $550,000

The investigation is ongoing, and Gulfport Police have not yet released a motive for the shooting.
