Guntur District Police arrested seven individuals on Saturday in connection with a major gold theft case and recovered 4.8 kg of gold, two motorbikes (a Yamaha and a Hero Honda Pulsar), one car tyre used for storing the gold, and Rs2 lakh in cash. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs5 crore. The police were able to solve the case in just six days.

According to the police, Divi Ramu, the proprietor of DVR Jewellery, instructed his relative and employee, Divi Nagaraju, to transport five kg of gold from Vijayawada city to Mangalagiri. While Nagaraju was on his TVS Scooty, he was followed by two men, Naveen and Irfan, who were on a motorcycle. When Nagaraju reached the Atmakur By-pass, Naveen and Irfan deliberately hit his vehicle, snatching the bag containing the gold before fleeing the scene.

Nagaraju then contacted Ramu, making him believe that the gold bag had been stolen. After receiving the complaint, Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar assigned six special teams to investigate the case. Using CCTV footage, the police tracked down the accused and made the arrests. The arrested individuals include Naveen, Lokesh, Chand, and others, who were involved in hiding the gold at NM Cultural shop and in the tyre at Lokesh’s house.

While seven individuals have been arrested, police are still searching for one more suspect involved in the theft.
