Men Arrested for Stealing Copper from Irrigation Systems in Haywood Co.

Five men charged in thefts of copper, totaling $165K in damage

Haywood Co., Tenn. (WMC) – Three men have been arrested, and two remain wanted, in connection to a series of copper thefts from irrigation systems in Haywood County. The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) announced the arrests on February 21, 2025.

The thefts occurred between early September 2024 and January 2025, with suspects accused of stealing copper wire, batteries, motors, and other essential parts from 11 irrigation systems in north and west Haywood County. These stolen materials were allegedly sold at various scrap yards across West Tennessee. The total damage and loss are estimated to exceed $165,000.

The men arrested are also believed to be linked to similar crimes in neighboring counties, where investigations are ongoing.

HCSO officials confirmed the following arrests:

James O’Dell “Jamie” Kirkpatrick Jr., 46, from Lauderdale County
Jeffery Warden, 46, from Lauderdale County
Justin Ferlitto, 55, from Haywood County
Warrants are still active for:

Kenneth Tucker, 44, from Lauderdale County
James Randle, 34, from Lauderdale County
All five suspects face multiple charges, including 11 counts of felony theft of property, 11 counts of felony vandalism, and conspiracy to commit theft of property valued between $60,000 and $250,000.
