A 59-year-old man suspected of involvement in a fraudulent investment scheme has been arrested by Meghalaya police in Senha village, Jharkhand. The accused, identified as Ibrahim Ansari, is linked to a duping case that was reported on August 12, 2024.
According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger, the arrest followed a complaint filed at Rynjah Police Station. The complaint was lodged by Abhishek Kumar Yadav, who falsely claimed to be an assistant manager at KFC and duped a victim with a purported investment plan worth Rs19.27 lakhs.
The victim, believing the offer to be legitimate, made an initial payment on June 14. Subsequent payments continued over the following weeks, with the last installment paid on August 6. It was only later discovered that Yadav had no affiliation with KFC, leading to the police investigation.
The case was officially registered at Rynjah Police Station, and further investigations revealed Ansari’s involvement in the crime. Nongtnger noted that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional individuals associated with the scam.
