Andrea Cochran, a Texas woman suspected of a multi-state bank fraud scheme, is now facing charges in Benton County, Washington. Cochran, 34, allegedly used fake passports in the names of various bank account holders to withdraw large sums of money from multiple branches across central Washington.
Her fraudulent activities spanned across Chelan, Kittitas, Benton, and Snohomish counties, as well as West Seattle and Everett. In one incident at the Cashmere Valley Bank branch in Leavenworth, Cochran is accused of stealing nearly $11,000.
Cochran was arrested four months ago in Maine, where she attempted a similar scheme. She is currently held on federal charges for passport fraud. Benton County prosecutors are the first in Washington to bring local charges, issuing a warrant in September for a single count of first-degree identity theft. She is expected to face trial soon.
