LEWISTON, Maine (WGME) — A Maine man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into two homes and stealing a car.
Lewiston police responded to a burglary report on Thursday, where the victim reported that her vehicle and purse had been stolen from her home. A short time later, a neighbor called police, saying they had woken up to find an unfamiliar man in their home. When confronted, the suspect fled the scene, but the homeowner provided surveillance footage to help with the investigation.
The suspect was soon tracked to a local business after using a stolen credit card. Officers recognized 49-year-old Jason Folkner, a transient from the Portland-Augusta area, from the surveillance video. Police were able to locate the stolen car and purse nearby.
Folkner was arrested and charged with burglary, burglary of a motor vehicle, theft by unauthorized use of property, and theft of lost, mislaid, or misdelivered property. He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail, where his bail was set at $2,500.
