NEWARK, NJ — A 55-year-old man from Newark was arrested last week in connection with a series of auto burglaries and criminal mischief incidents.
Fernando Pinero was apprehended on Friday, January 24, near Magazine Street and Rome Street. Authorities allege that Pinero was responsible for three separate incidents between January 15 and January 17, involving smashed vehicle windows and stolen tools.
The first reported incident occurred on January 15, near Magazine Street and Ferry Street, when the rear window of a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan was shattered, and four hand grinder machines were stolen. The second incident took place between January 16 and 17 on Van Buren Street, where the driver-side window of a 2017 Chevy Express Van was broken, and plumbing tools were taken.
The third incident occurred overnight on Madison Street near Ferry Street, where the rear and passenger windows of a 2015 GMC Savana were shattered, though no items were stolen.
Pinero now faces charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Detectives from the Newark Police Department were able to identify him during their investigation, leading to his arrest.
