Three Arrested for Stealing Firearm from 3rd IRBn in Seijosa

Two IRBn jawans and an Assam resident involved in theft

In a swift operation, the Pakke Kessang district police have arrested three individuals, including two jawans of the 3rd India Reserve Battalion (IRBn), for allegedly stealing a small firearm and ammunition from their battalion headquarters at Seijosa.

According to Pakke Kessang Superintendent of Police (SP), Tasi Darang, the theft was reported following a written FIR submitted to the Seijosa Police Station on Monday. The report stated that the central KOTE (Keeper of Technical Equipment) at the 3rd IRBn’s battalion headquarters had been damaged, and a 9mm pistol, along with 11 live rounds, was missing.

Prompt action followed, with the Seijosa Police Station, led by Sub-Inspector Sang Thinley and supervised by SP Darang, launching an immediate investigation. Within a day, the team successfully apprehended the three suspects.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Phuntso Dondup (30) and Haricharan Boro (31), both constables with the 3rd IRBn, and Md Babul Ali (35), a resident of Kekakuli village in Assam’s Sonitpur district.
