A 23-year-old woman, Stephanie Donaldson from Croydon, has been charged after an incident at a Sainsbury’s store in Penge earlier this month. Donaldson was arrested on January 3, 2025, after allegedly attempting to steal £800 worth of goods from the supermarket.
Security staff at the store detained Donaldson before police arrived at the scene. She was subsequently charged with robbery and attempted theft due to the scale of the alleged theft.
The swift action of the store’s security team was praised by local police, who highlighted the importance of tackling shoplifting and related crimes. Donaldson is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
