New York Man Arrested for $9,000 Fraudulent Purchases at Pennsylvania Lowe’s Stores
Warrington Township, PA — A 26-year-old man from New York is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly racking up nearly $9,000 in fraudulent purchases at Lowe’s stores in Pennsylvania.
The investigation began in early 2024 when a Warrington Township resident reported receiving a credit card statement from Lowe’s showing $9,000 worth of charges that they had not made. The victim immediately notified the police, prompting an investigation into the fraudulent activity.
Authorities soon identified Rashon Govantes of Cambria Heights, New York, as the suspect. Govantes reportedly used a stolen credit card to make purchases at multiple Lowe’s stores across Pennsylvania, from Pottstown to Lancaster.
A warrant was issued for Govantes’ arrest on charges of access device fraud, theft by deception, and receiving stolen property. On January 2, 2024, Govantes was stopped by New Jersey State Police in Warren County, New Jersey, and taken into custody. He was initially held at Warren County Jail before being transferred to the Bucks County Sheriff’s Department.
Govantes was arraigned on January 10 by Judge Wertman, who set bail at $25,000 or 10 percent cash. Unable to post bail, Govantes was transported to the Bucks County Correctional Facility where he remains pending further legal proceedings.
