Mountain Lake, Minn. — Veochai Keobouaravath, 47, of Mountain Lake, faces multiple felony charges following an incident that spanned several days between Dec. 27 and Dec. 30, 2024. She has been charged with possession of stolen property and fleeing a police officer via motor vehicle.

The events began on Dec. 27 when a Cottonwood County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle traveling at high speeds in the opposite direction. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, leading to a high-speed chase. The vehicle was later found to be stolen from Louisiana.

On Dec. 28, deputies responded to a suspicious person report involving Keobouaravath’s boyfriend, Jesus Sanchez Ibarra, near a county road. It was later discovered that the vehicle they were in had been stolen, and the couple’s story regarding the incident was inconsistent. The stolen vehicle was found crashed in a cornfield.

On Dec. 30, deputies visited Keobouaravath’s residence in Mountain Lake. She initially denied any knowledge of the vehicle being stolen, but later admitted to being in Louisiana with Sanchez Ibarra just before the incident occurred. She also admitted that she was behind the wheel when the car crashed. Keobouaravath explained that after realizing the vehicle was stolen, she fled the scene.

Keobouaravath was arrested after officers gathered sufficient evidence, and she is scheduled to appear in Cottonwood County Fifth District Court on Jan. 14.
