Aric McCray Arrested for Stealing Lottery Tickets in Waterbury Burglary

New Haven Man Charged with Burglary After Breaking into Winner's Store

WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Aric McCray, a 53-year-old man from New Haven, was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Winner’s store in Waterbury and stealing nonactivated lottery tickets.

According to Waterbury police, officers responded to the burglary on Thomaston Avenue at around 4:45 a.m. on January 3, 2025. The suspect reportedly used a rock to break the store’s glass and gain entry before fleeing the scene on foot.

The next day, police located a man matching the suspect’s description during a separate investigation on Willow Street at around 10 a.m.. The man was identified as Aric McCray.

McCray was subsequently charged with burglary in the third degree, larceny in the sixth degree, and criminal mischief in the third degree. He remains in custody with a $110,000 bond, managed by the Connecticut Department of Corrections.
