A man named Vidurbhai Vasava has been arrested for allegedly stealing gold necklaces worth Rs 78 lakh from the Mahakali Temple located atop Pavagadh Hills in Gujarat’s Panchmahal district. The theft occurred on October 28, when Vasava reportedly stole six gold necklaces and two gold-plated items from the temple’s sanctum sanctorum.
The local crime branch (LCB), utilizing human intelligence and technical surveillance, cracked the case. They analyzed footage from over 150 CCTV cameras in and around the temple. The investigation revealed that Vasava had been moving suspiciously near the temple on a motorcycle the day before the crime. The police later identified him as a resident of Umarpada, Surat.
Vasava was arrested in Surat more than a week after the incident.
