MARION COUNTY, Ill. — A second arrest has been made in connection with an armed robbery involving a vehicle test drive earlier this month.
Blake Hills, a resident of Nations Road, was taken into custody after the Marion County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at his home. During the search, authorities recovered a sawed-off shotgun believed to have been used in the robbery. Hills faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Earlier, authorities had arrested 40-year-old Lloyd McMullin of North Everett Street in Odin, who is accused of committing the armed robbery. The victim reportedly handed over $2,000 to McMullin during the test drive. When another car approached on the West Boone Street Extension, the victim managed to escape and flagged down a motorist for help.
McMullin has been charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Sheriff Kevin Cripps commended the department’s investigators for linking Hills to the case and recovering the weapon used in the crime.
Additionally, two others were arrested at Hills’ residence during the search. Donald “Keith” Calendar, 36, of Norton Road in Odin, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Debra Bosler, 66, also of Norton Road, was released on a notice to appear for possession of a firearm without a FOID card.
